As you know, crocodiles are very attached to their habitat, and when biologists moved them from urban areas to the wild, crocodiles often returned to their homes, walking about 10 miles a week. They are being relocated to increase the population in other areas, as the species used to be in danger of extinction, and now its population has jumped to 2,000 in southern Florida. The risk of crocodiles coming into contact with local residents, whose homes are located on the banks of the canals, is also increasing.
Scientists have now begun experiments using magnetic tapes worn over a crocodile's head. This is done in order to undermine their ability to “homing”, since, according to scientists, crocodiles rely on the Earth's magnetic fields to move, and this magnetic tape will be able to do them disorient.
Scientists intend to obtain positive results in this experiment, even if there are a large number of opponents of their actions, who claim that the displaced crocodiles die fighting local crocodiles for territory.
