Guanajuato City, Mexico

This unique museum houses many mummified people. Some of the mummies were found over a thousand years ago.

Most of the museum's exhibits are residents of Guanajuato. From 1865 to 1958, people living in the city were obliged to pay a certain tax to the city treasury, and if someone refused to pay tribute for three years, the offender's deceased relatives they dug it right out of the graves.

Initially, the bodies that were dug up were kept in a cemetery in a crypt, where their relatives could buy back. However, most of the corpses were still in the crypt.

And in 1894, so many bodies accumulated in the crypt that they decided to open an entire museum for them in Guanajuato. The museum soon became a local attraction that still attracts many tourists today.

Some of the most shocking exhibits are the bodies of a pregnant woman and children. This museum is also proud of the smallest mummy on the planet: it's no bigger than a bread loaf.

The museum has a shop where you can buy stuffed mummies, sugar skulls and postcards with black humor.

Psychiatric museum

Saint Joseph, Missouri, USA

The museum was created at St. Joseph's Hospital. This institution treated not only mentally ill people, but also syphilis patients.

In this photo, you can see a feverish cabinet that can raise a person's temperature to 105°. This treatment was given to patients with malaria and syphilis.

All the mannequins in the photo were donated by a local clothing store.

Cold water was used as a sedative for an anxious patient.

Water was either poured over or so-called “wet wrap” was used.

Shock therapy was used for patients with schizophrenia.

This artistic composition, made by an unknown “author”, is made of 1446 items.

They were all found in the stomach of one patient who was swallowing various metal and plastic objects: nails, screws, bolts, hooks and buttons.

But the woman died during surgery to remove these items.

Other exhibits include a chair invented by Benjamin Rush. A mentally ill person was seated on such a chair for up to 6 months.

And in this wheel, which works like a hamster wheel, the patient was closed, forcing him to move.

Ventriloquist Museum

Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, USA

The museum consists of sitting mannequins.

Each doll there looks like an individual soul and character. It's such a trick, but artificial people really look creepy.

They can tell funny stories and roll their eyes as a reaction to what you say. It might even seem like each mannequin is hiding a secret.

An eerie and unpleasant feeling overwhelms every visitor to this museum. Looking at the exhibits, you are overwhelmed with fear, from which you can hardly restrain yourself not to scream.

Mother Museum

City of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

This museum has housed human anomalies and pathologies since 1858.

Here you can see the authentic brains of epileptics and murderers, many skulls (each has its own description of the owner), and other organs.

In addition, in the mother's museum, you will take away vessels with creepy creatures drunk in them, who were human, but nature has mutilated them beyond recognition.

Torture Museum

City of San Gimignano, Italy

This institution shows what sadistic tendencies and cruelty a person can have. All this happened in the Middle Ages under the guise of justice.

Here is a large collection of tools that some people used to torment others. The museum is located in a 13th century building called the Devil's Tower.

Among the exhibits are:

1. The guillotine where unfortunate people were executed by beheading.

2. Stands used to stretch the human body.

3. The “Spanish spider” used to rip the victim's chest.

4. “The Heretic's Fork”. This device tortured a person without letting him sleep.

5. A sarcophagus with blades. The unfortunate man was placed inside the structure, and when the sarcophagus was closed, the blades pierced the victim.

The essence of creating the museum is to show boundless human cruelty, warning humanity about how much it can absorb the mind.
