Incredible facts

According to a new study that focused on hearing benefits among people who play music all their lives, playing guitar or playing favorite songs on the piano your hearing will thank you later in life.

Older musicians who have been playing an instrument since childhood performed much better on the auditory task test compared to people their own age, but not who studied music. This suggests that music protects against some of the problems that come with old age.

Researchers have previously known that music improves hearing in adults, but they did not know what effect it has on age-related changes such as hearing loss, hearing loss, decreased hearing acuity, as well as the ability to differentiate sounds.

The study, published in the journal PLoS ONE, involved 37 participants aged 45 to 65. They took tests that measured their memory as well as their hearing ability to recognize speech amid noise. 18 people in the band were “active” musicians. Most of them were over 40 years old, and the rest were not musicians.

People often experience hearing loss as they age. But hearing loss is only half of the equation. With age, acuity and auditory memory, which play an important role in communication, also decrease. Overall, people's ability to recognize speech amidst background noise deteriorates over the years, making it difficult to communicate with others.

Musicians, however, find it much easier to recognize speech amid noise. They performed better when researchers asked them to take a test to recognize information spoken by a male voice against three female voices. Neither the age at which people started playing an instrument, nor their experience, influenced the results of this study.

However, the research team suspects that it is necessary to look at the issue more deeply. And although singers were not included in the study, experts believe that the results may be similar.
