Unbelievable facts

Anthony Kulkamp Dias, 33, from Brazil, recently underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor.

At the same time, he sincerely sang The Beatles song “Yesterday”.

Below is a video shot by staff at Nossa Senhora da Conceição Hospital in Santa Catarina, where the surgery was performed. Of course, this is nonsense, and no one has ever known, much less seen anything like this.

Guitar patient

It may seem that Diaz prevented doctors from operating, but in fact, his “concert” was an important part of a complex operation that lasted nine hours. When doctors heard singing and playing guitar, they performed “brain monitoring” to ensure that the motor and speech zones of the brain were functioning normally.

A big Beatles fan and former professional guitarist, in addition to a song by his favorite band, performed songs written for his son, as well as some Brazilian folk songs. After surgery, the patient says, “The doctors asked me to repeat one of the encore songs.”

Diaz is a bank employee and his problems started when he noticed he was stuttering. Words were becoming more and more difficult to pronounce.

It is always difficult to remove a tumor that has grown inside the brain, as there is a risk of damage to other parts of this organ. But despite this, Diaz was awake during the entire process of removing the tumor. He was under local anaesthesia and did not feel any pain.

According to surgeons, 90% of the tumor has been removed. Diaz has already been discharged from the hospital.

Violin player

And this was not the only time when music helped with surgery – last year, a violinist also played a violinist in Israel during brain surgery to help her doctors control brain activity.

It was Lithuanian musician Naomi Elishuv. She performed Mozart's works on violin.

The violinist had hand tremors (trembling limbs) for 20 years. Most of all, the disease complicated her professional activities. Naomi had a special electrostimulator implanted in her skull.

The operation was successful, and now an electrode placed in the right place allows the patient to play the violin without tremors. Only local anesthesia was used during the operation.
