Treating kitchen surfaces with disinfectant wipes can virtually “nullify” the risk of food poisoning.
Scientists believe that harmful campylobacteria (sources of food poisoning), which also breed on domestic chicken, can be eliminated using the simple method below.
The benefits of disinfectant wipes

Research by scientists has shown that using disinfectant wipes for the kitchen after cooking chicken reduces the risk of poisoning by 99%.
Gerardo Lopez and his team at the University of Arizona used antibacterial wipes on typical high-quality materials, including granite, laminate and ceramic tiles. Their goal was to determine whether such wipes could reduce the risk of exposure to harmful bacteria.

The results of the experiment, as well as other studies to study the transition of bacteria from food to the surface of human skin and, ultimately, into the mouth, were analyzed on a computer to calculate potential risk reduction. The calculations showed that the risk was reduced to about 1%.
The danger of campylobacteria

Dr Lopez says: “Campylobacteria are actually dangerous. When they enter the body, they can cause an unpleasant illness – poisoning. Thus, we should wipe our kitchen surfaces and wash our hands after cooking poultry. Campylobacter infections tend to cause vomiting and diarrhea.
This can be very dangerous for young children, the elderly, and anyone with a weakened immune system.
It is possible that bacteria will be killed when cooking meat, but there is still a chance that harmful bacteria will remain on the cutting board or other surfaces used for cooking meat.
Experts once urged people to refrain from washing poultry under the tap, because such actions can cause bacteria to spread through splashes.

However, new studies show that cleaning kitchen utensils with disinfectant wipes immediately after unpacking or cooking poultry can further protect people from infection.

Scientists have found that this is not just a physical removal of bacteria, but also an antibacterial solution that will help protect a person within the next few minutes.
It is best to clean all potentially dangerous items immediately after the poultry is cooked.
Remember! If fat drips or evaporation from meat splashes, dangerous bacteria can “relocate” to other products. The same rule applies to dirty surfaces and dishes.
