Incredible facts
This news is not for the faint of heart. If you are afraid of spiders and find one in your home, it can cause panic.
What if there are millions of times more spiders?
A giant web woven by an army of cross spiders, the size of three football fields, was discovered at a water treatment plant in Baltimore, USA.
Although the incident took place in 2009, the story has recently spread around the Internet.
The biggest web

The station was full of spiders, and 95 per cent of the building was covered by spiders. This is more than 107 million eight-footed creatures on an area of about 16,099 square meters.

Experts estimate that there were approximately 35,176 spiders for every cubic meter of space.

Among them were mainly tetragnatid spiders, which live in humid, swampy places.

They are characterized by an elongated thin body, long legs and a shiny abdomen.

The webs woven by Araneidae spiders, of which are tetragnatids, are used to capture prey. Other webs are used for breeding or to help spiders find their way to their place.

According to scientists, the web was so heavy that it damaged the lighting fixtures, and in some places it reached the thickness of a fire hose.

The strongest spider web

In 2009, when the web was removed, scientists in Madagascar discovered one of the most durable webs in the world, which is 10 times stronger than Kevlar.
