At what age is a person considered young and when can one be considered a middle-aged person? At what age does a person become old? There is no exact answer to this question. Perhaps a person stays young as long as he thinks he is young. Britons, for example, believe that the average age is 55, and before that age a person is considered young, showed a survey of 1,000 people aged 50 and over.

To be more precise, the British believe that the average age is 54 years and 347 days. A survey commissioned by Love to Learn also showed that Britons do not consider themselves elderly until they are 70 years old. Thus, according to the British version, the average age is about 15 years. It is interesting that the British are significantly “younger”. Previous surveys have shown that Britons only considered themselves young until the age of 36. It turns out that youth in the United Kingdom is now 19 years longer!

“Today, most middle-aged and older people consider themselves much younger when it comes to behavioral norms. The main thing is to keep your mind active,” John Craven, one of the founders of Love to Learn, comments on the survey results.

The above are average figures and it should be noted that about 20 percent of respondents said that the middle age does not start until 60 years. Many respondents also said that it is impossible to give an exact figure, since youth, middle age or old age are measured not by numbers, but by a person's state of mind.

According to official statistics, there are currently more people over 65 in the UK than people under 16.

As mentioned above, according to the British, a person becomes elderly only at the age of 70, or rather at 69 years and 277 days. It turns out that Britons do not retire at old age, but at middle age, since the state's retirement age is 66 years.

A similar study was recently conducted among Europeans. According to the results of this study, on average, Europeans begin to consider themselves elderly at 62 years of age.

Interestingly, the answers to the question of when youth ends and middle age begins varied widely from country to country. For example, Swedes believe that youth ends at 34, while Greeks consider themselves young to be 52 years old. On average, Europeans believe that the average age is 40 years.
