A bit about the history of astrology

The official history of astrology dates back about five millennia, but more and more researchers are inclined to believe that astrology began to emerge much earlier. Three peaks of astrology's greatest popularity at different periods of history were noted:

1. Antiquity. At that time, astrology was interpreted as one of the most important cosmogonic teachings in terms of mankind's connection with planets, stars, and the solar system. Astrology had indisputable authority in everything related to the future — predictors and prophets were listened to at that time.

2. The Middle Ages.

The Renaissance brought “MAN” to the throne. Anthropocentrism was also expressed in a renewed interest in what awaits each person and in the possibility of predicting fate based on science. Many scientists and writers of that time considered astrology itself important and useful for perceiving astronomy, medicine, and social processes. Suffice it to recall Newton, Kepler, Shakespeare.

3. XX-beginning of the XXI century. During this period, astrology became wildly popular. Especially now, in the age of information revolutions, we can have free access to almost everything that interests us. But this is both a great advantage and a problem for the development of astrology:

– Astrology is no longer for a select few, anyone can touch the magic of stars and planets — it's so tempting.

– Astrology is an ideal topic for the eternal holivar. The arguments “for” and “against” recognizing it as a science: both sides replenish their supply every day.

– Stylish, fashionable, youthful — a shirt with its own zodiac sign, a tattoo with it, horoscopes from stars, for stars, “stars speak”. The list is endless. The entourage — stars, planets, mysticism, occultism — all this wraps up well and sells.

– A cure for stress and problems — the more the dynamism of our time depresses, the more people seek salvation in astrological forecasts. Sometimes it's enough for them to be “cared for by a cactus on the windowsill”, and retrograde Mercury was to blame for everything.

However, the popularization of science in this case did not benefit her. Popular astrology is just a drop in the ocean, which, unfortunately, is used to judge the entire system.

But deep knowledge is only available to those who really want to learn and really need it.
