Useful tips

The Internet, as in everyday life, has its own unspoken rules of good manners, following which each of us can make our virtual communication more enjoyable. Netiquette has certainly been established over so many years, all that remains is to follow the rules.

Don't make Skype calls

The well-known Skype differs from a standard phone in its specifics of use, in addition, of course, to technical characteristics.

Many people easily confuse Skype with a regular mobile phone. But you can remove the sound on the phone, put a vibro bell, leave it in another room, and the phone is made specifically for calls and communication.

Skype, on the other hand, is a computer resident, and when you call, a person is probably watching a movie, typing some important text, or just sitting next to a sleeping child and reading something. For this reason, it is better to pre-arrange a conversation before calling.

Use the information

People who post on social media should be aware without reminders that the information they provide is public knowledge.

A post with no accessibility restrictions automatically gives you the right to repost without further questions. And you can also link to it wherever you want.

Similarly, if you don't want your information to be linked to or posted elsewhere, limit it.

Rules of conduct on the Internet

Don't be afraid to be friends

You can add anyone as a friend on social media. People often confuse this “friendship” with real friendship. But you're not asking the editor-in-chief of your favorite magazine for permission to subscribe, are you?

Subscribe and calmly read someone you are interested in. This also leads to the following rule: if for some reason you no longer like a person, you easily unsubscribe from him and no longer read.

It is allowed to “slam the door”

A person and what they do on social media can annoy you. You should feel free to get rid of this without fear of offending someone. After all, that's what you do in real life.

The network is no different in this sense. You just protect yourself from the unpleasant, stop seeing it, and thereby improve your world.

Be careful about asking for help

There is a huge amount of spam on social media with false requests for help. But refusing to help someone does not mean that you are an indifferent person, you just need to be reasonable, including in matters of such kindness.

Before you repost about an apartment that a good owner will gladly give to someone who posted the ad, or about puppies who urgently need to find owners, otherwise they will be waiting death, etc., take a few minutes of your time and check the information. In the vast majority of cases, it is either initially fake or has long been outdated.

What not to do online

Don't criticize a person for a photo

On social media, as in real life, it is considered bad manners to criticize someone for their photo. An ordinary person maintains his page on a social network solely for the pleasure and joy of chatting with interesting people.

None of us, when posting a photo of our new image or renovation in an apartment, wants to hear that these clothes do not suit him, and in general, he has recovered, and the ceilings were made like this back in the last century.

If you want to leave a comment, then write something nice, otherwise it's better to keep silent.

Don't be afraid to meet

Online dating is quite normal. Don't be afraid to show interest and show the person that you're interested in him. You can explain to him why you think you can find common ground.

Holiday cards

Do not tag all your friends on one card, just as you do not need to send faceless greetings en masse, this is unpleasant. It is better to write a personal message to everyone if the date is really significant.

And if you really want to post a picture or a postcard for the holiday, then do it just like that without marking anyone on it.

Don't “follow” other people's pages

You don't need to post anything on other people's pages. This behavior can be compared to a situation where you come to visit a person, drive a nail into a wall you like and hang a picture on him. The picture may be the most beautiful, but the owner is unlikely to be happy. The only exception can be a birthday, and that is not always the case.

Be careful

When communicating with people on the Internet, as in real life, it is very important not to forget that there is a person on the other side of the screen. Your conversation partner is neither a virtual entity nor a text that appears in response to your message.

This is an ordinary person with his own joys and problems, with his own feelings and emotions. So don't write or say things online that you wouldn't say in real life to your neighbor, work colleague, or even a travel companion on public transport.
