St. Peter’s Cathedral Andrew in Amalfi
St. Peter’s Cathedral Andrea towers over the Piazza Duomo in the heart of Amalfi. The magnificent Roman Catholic cathedral was built in the 11th century, its Baroque interior is beautiful and magnificent, and the nave is separated from two galleries by 20 majestic columns.
Arsenal of the Amalfi Republic
The old city Arsenal is located just a few steps from the Amalfi beach. It was here that numerous merchant ships of the Amalfi Republic were built in the Middle Ages. Today, the Museum of the Compass and the Amalfi Maritime Republic is open in the old arsenal.
Emerald Grotto of Amalfi
The Grotta dello Smeraldo is located in Conca dei Marini, very close to Amalfi. It is a cave that is partially filled with seawater — it would seem that it is not so rare. But the color of this very water is such as can be seen only in a few grottoes of the world.
The Cellars of Marisa Cuomo
The town of Furore is located about 8 km from Amalfi (taking into account the twists of the highway). And here are some of the most famous vineyards in the region, where top-class wines have been produced since 1942. These wines are also called “extreme” because of the conditions in which the grapes grow.
St. Pancras Church
The Church of St. Pancras is not located in Amalfi itself, but in Conca dei Marini, which is about 3.5 km from the city. It stands surrounded by olive trees, and no one can say exactly when it was founded.
