The “five lands” are located on the rocky coast of the Italian Riviera. This is how “Cinque Terre” is translated from Italian, and the national park really includes five settlements. Colorful buildings built almost close to each other, rocky and sandy beaches, vineyards, azure waters and hilly landscape turn this place into something fabulous.
By the way, part of the territory of the national Park is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. There are quite a lot of religious monuments in the Cinque Terre ‑ chapels, churches and monasteries, which can also be visited.
Lovers of medieval architecture will like castles and ruins. This is the perfect place to combine cultural saturation and beach holidays.
How to get. From Genoa and Pisa, which are closest to the National Park, each settlement can be reached by train or by boat. Some cities are served by direct trains from Milan.
It is convenient to move inside the Cinque Terre by rail or by water.
When to arrive. In any season. If you want to swim and sunbathe, choose summer. Although it will be quite hot for long walks, so if your goal is to walk and explore the cities, give preference to autumn or winter. But be prepared for the rains.
