The forest is very well maintained and looks more like a specially planted park: it is too neat. But this is not the case. Over the centuries, a whole grove of hyacinths has formed here in a natural way. The trees seem to grow out of the lilac sea, which actually represents thousands of blooming flowers.
Deer, rabbits and rare bird species can be found in Hallerbos. Those who love wildlife will really like it here. And I am ready to take care of it, because it is forbidden to pluck hyacinths. Even if you have invited a girl here on a date, be sure: just visiting the forest is already a romantic gift.
How to get. By train, which departs from Brussels Central Station, you need to get to Halle station. From there, you can get to the forest by bus or bicycle (from the station to Hallerbos only 5 kilometers). The whole trip will take about an hour.
When to arrive. The forest will be most beautiful, of course, during the hyacinth flowering season. Every year it shifts slightly due to the variability of the weather, but almost always comes around the middle or end of spring.
