Komodo National Park, located in the province of East Nusa Tenggara, is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The cool sea breeze, breathtaking views of the turquoise waters of the Flores Sea, white sandy beaches and lush tree crowns, all this is certainly a great reason to go to this unique place.
1. Bidadari
Due to the blue waters, beaches with snow-white sand and incredibly beautiful corals, Bidadari Island is called the “Island of Angels”. But this is not all, the landscape of the island is represented by beautiful hills and dense forests. It is also one of the best places for novice divers, as corals, colorful fish and other representatives of the underwater world can be observed at a depth of only 5 meters.
Bidadari Island is also known for its snorkeling spots. While Komodo National Park is considered one of the best diving spots in the whole world.
2. Sebayur
This small island has the most dive spots in the entire Komodo National Park. Most of the tourists who come to the park dive here. You can also rent a boat for a whole team of divers.
In addition to the most beautiful dive spots, this region is famous for its trekking routes. The untouched nature of the islands on which the National Park is located is another reason to visit this place!
3. Ditch
Truly a paradise on earth! This island is washed by the crystal clear waters of the Flores Sea, which is especially noticeable when you dock at the pier in shallow water. Due to the isolation and abundance of local flora and fauna, Kanava Island with an area of only 32 hectares resembles a small private island.
The island is known for its crystal clear water and white sand beaches. We recommend staying here until late at night. At 23.00, the electricity on the whole island is turned off, and thousands of small lights are lit in the sky, which cannot be seen in the light of the night lights of megacities.
4. Padar
This is the most famous and at the same time the smallest island in the Komodo National Park. You probably met a lot of pictures of this island when you were looking for information on monitor lizards and the park in which they live. Padar is incredibly green, as its landscape is represented by savannas and hills. It is from the highest point that the best view of Komodo Island lying across a small strait will open.
Padar is surrounded by three beautiful coves with 3 amazing beaches in color: white sand, charcoal-colored sand and a soft pink beach. If you are lucky, you will be able to swim with giant manta rays and dolphins, see reptiles, and sometimes even whales.
5. Komodo
The name of this island speaks for itself. Komodo Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to Komodo lizards, the largest lizards on earth. In addition to the dragons, the last of its kind, the island attracts with its picturesque landscapes.
Climbing to the top of the hill, which offers a charming view of the bays of the island, is truly a sight not to be missed. In order to preserve the natural beauty of nature, the construction of hotels on the island is prohibited, so the only affordable housing here is guest houses in a fishing village.
6. Seraya
This tiny tropical island with a majestic sea reef is perfect for a break from the hustle and bustle of cities. Contemplating the clear and calm waters of the Flores Sea, stress and worries will dissipate in an instant.
This is a place for those who are looking for peace and tranquility. Of course, you can also engage in more active types of recreation here: enjoy swimming, snorkeling and even fishing.
7. Rincha
Despite the fact that Komodo Island is mostly known as a place where you can see monitor lizards, much more of them live on Rincha Island. There are fewer visitors and tourists here. Practically unaffected by human influence, Rincha Island is the natural habitat of Komodo lizards.
We recommend using the services of a guide, as it is difficult to navigate where to go on this beautiful island and it is very easy to get lost, putting yourself in danger.
8. Kelor
If you are looking for a serene place with unspoilt landscapes and a romantic atmosphere, then you should definitely visit the island of Kelor. The main entertainment on this island is sea sports, so don’t forget to take a change of clothes. In addition, there is an incredibly beautiful landscape with its stunning coastlines and boundless sea. Of course, Kelor is perfect for snorkeling and diving.
9. Menjerite
The island of Menjerite, which also has majestic landscapes, is known for its crystal clear waters and colorful corals.
A favorite spot on the island is a long wooden bridge set right in the water, offering stunning views of the lush green hills surrounding it. Walking along the bridge, you will see hundreds of different fish. Here it is a real paradise!
10. Kalong
From the Indonesian language, the word “Kalong” translates as “Bats”. And it’s no coincidence. Thousands of bats live in the beautiful mangrove forests surrounding the island. Therefore, at sunset, get ready to see how these little creatures synchronously fly out of their houses in search of food. Truly an unforgettable sight!
Komodo National Park is known for its beautiful landscape, crystal clear water and amazing underwater life. Not to mention sunsets, lush green trees and beaches. Sounds attractive enough to come here on your next trip, right? We are waiting for you in Komodo National Park!
