1. Freedom
Let’s start with the beach with the talking name Freedom, where the atmosphere of freedom really reigns: no merchants and touts, children’s screams and the rumble of boats, only silence, snow-white sand, palm trees and azure sea. Here it is easy to feel like a movie hero lost in the jungle, without giving up the benefits of civilization: there are toilets and showers on the shore, a rental point for sun loungers and snorkeling equipment, a volleyball court and a restaurant.
2. Knighton
Naiton Beach, located in the north of Phuket, is also picturesque and sparsely populated. The coast is covered with soft golden sand and surrounded by a casuarina grove, there are no strong waves in the season, the sea is clean, with gradually increasing depth. It is better to swim in the central part, since the bottom is strewn with stones on the left and right, but there you can stare at fish and other sea creatures. Of the amenities, only a shower with fresh water and several cafes across the street.
3. Bang Tao
Northwest Bang Tao is one of the longest, most fashionable and expensive beaches on the island. Wealthy tourists are pleased with luxury hotels, restaurants, boutiques and spas, but they are located mainly in the southern part, and in the north it is not so pretentious, but also very beautiful. This site is called Layan, and mostly locals and expats rest there — under the shade of spreading coniferous trees.
There are waves in the center of the bay, and at the edges the sea is almost always serene.
4. Tri-Trang
Tourists have recently learned about Tri-Trang Beach, so it is surprisingly clean and cozy. Divers and lovers of diving with a mask will like coral reefs with outlandish inhabitants, but surfers have nothing to do here: the sea is calm even in the rainy season. There are rental points, amenities and entertainment — scooters, water skis, paragliders, kayaks. Restaurants and bars are open late, but it’s still better for ardent party-goers to prefer neighboring Patong and Bangla Road.
5. Mai Khao
Mai Khao Beach is located in the Sirinat National Park, where rare birds and reptiles are found. But they did not make the beach famous, but planes taking off and landing directly overhead: Phuket International Airport is a few steps away. There are no sun beds with umbrellas, no other amenities, cleanliness is questionable, you should swim with caution — the bottom steeply goes down a couple of meters from the shore.
It is undesirable to take selfies against the background of airplanes (it is believed that this interferes with pilots and threatens flight safety), but no one will forbid capturing an incredible sight in the heart and memory.
