Health
To eat meat or not to eat meat is the question! This question is of interest to many people who lead a healthy lifestyle or those who are engaged in spiritual practices. If you are not yet sure whether you should stop eating meat and start a vegetarian diet, perhaps the following arguments can help you solve this problem.
You can't kill someone to eat
Many people don't feel any remorse when they eat fried chicken, for example, but ask one of them to kill the bird on their own and they'll see it as something terrible. If killing birds with your own hands seems strange and wrong to you, you may be starting to wake up vegetarian habits. If you come face to face with reality and think about what happens before you have a chicken dish on your table, you may treat meat completely differently.
You are concerned about the fate of animals
When you come to the store and see pieces of meat packed neatly, you hardly think about how exactly this meat got to the butcher.
Birds raised for meat production are kept in special rooms without windows, where up to 30,000 heads can be held in one cramped room. These birds are almost never able to spread their wings or even stand on their feet in their lives. Many of them suffer from injuries that resemble pressure sores in a person who has not been out of bed for a long time.
You care about what gets into your stomach
It is known that saturated fats found in meat are very harmful to health, so the well-known saying “we are what we eat” is quite true. You can choose to eat organic fruits and vegetables because you know they are grown without harmful fertilizers or pesticides, but what do you know about the meat you eat? In addition to being able to feed animals unnatural food, they are also fed pesticides, antibiotics and hormones that accumulate in their meat in large quantities, no matter what part carcasses will be used to prepare the dish.
You value clean air and fresh drinking water
Industrial livestock produces methane gas, which is the main cause of environmental pollution and global warming. A huge amount of forests that produce oxygen is being cut down for pastures. Fertilizers used to grow fodder crops, together with emissions from large chemical plants that produce these fertilizers, poison the air.
About 200 liters of water are needed to produce 1 kilogram of wheat, and about 20,000 liters of water are needed to produce 1 kilogram of meat! Livestock farm waste litters our rivers and water bodies.
Do you still want to eat meat?
If you still can't give up meat and don't want to switch to vegetarian food, then at least you should pay attention to some nuances. Choose homemade, organic poultry, pork or beef, which will be healthier for you and the planet. This way you will not only be able to support local farmers, but you will also contribute to protecting the environment.
