Unbelievable facts
Good news for all beer drinkers. Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the US found that men who drink a few beers a day were better at solving puzzles than their sober colleagues.
To come to this surprising conclusion, scientists developed a game in which 40 men were presented with three words and asked them to find a fourth that would fit the sample. For example, the word cheese could fit the words “blue”, “homemade” and “Swiss”. Half of the participants were given two beers, while the others were not offered anything.
So what were the results of the study? Those who drank beer solved 40 percent more problems than sober participants. In addition, those who drank were able to complete the tasks in 12 seconds, while sober men took an average of 15.5 seconds.
“We found that at a blood alcohol level of 0.07, people performed worse on memory tasks, but they performed better on tasks that required creative thinking,” explained psychologist Jennifer Jennifer Wiley, who conducted the study.
She acknowledged that her findings contradict the popular conclusion that alcohol impairs analytical thinking and clouds the mind. As the researcher explained, creative solutions sometimes come when people are not too focused, but a little distracted. Perhaps this explains the fact that many creative people, such as the writer Ernest Hemingway, who often drank, have created their own great works.
The researchers also found that men were better at solving problems when they worked in groups of three rather than two. In a two-person group, people try to be polite and avoid confronting or asking questions. When you're working with a group of three, you're bolder and more willing to speak your mind.
Observe moderation
Many studies have shown the positive effects of alcohol, and people often use these jobs as a reason to get drunk. But is it true that alcohol has health benefits?
The most important thing, according to experts, is to maintain moderation. Moderation means no more than two alcoholic drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women. What actually counts as a drink? One drink is about 300 ml of beer, 140 ml of wine or 42 ml of strong liqueur. People who drink more than they should have an increased risk of various health problems. Also, do not forget that binge drinking also does not go unnoticed for your health.
