Unbelievable facts

For most people, death is somewhere in the distant future, and the time, place, and cause are unknown.

The uncertainty surrounding the end of everything inevitably raises lots of questions, such as “Will I be ready when this happens?” , “Is it going to hurt?” , or “What happens next?”

Although we'll never know the answers to these questions, several entrepreneurs in China have decided to create a simulator to help people value life more by making them feel dead.

Death Simulator

Huange Weiping and Ding Rui, who are founders of a hospice for cancer patients, have launched a 4D death simulator where visitors can experience what it means be cremated and be reborn in the uterus.

The game, which is a cross between therapy and fun, is called Samadhi. It opened in September 2014 at Shenzhen Amusement Park in China, where participants pay $40 to participate in a series of games.

Players who “die” are placed in a coffin and then in an oven. The coffin is heated to 40 C, and the combination of hot air and light creates “an authentic burning sensation”.

After cremation, participants see a projection of the uterus on the ceiling and hear a heartbeat. Shortly thereafter, they see a bright light that they must crawl to when they enter a snow-white soft area that represents rebirth.

A few years ago, South Korea already opened something similar — a 4-hour seminar “The Coffin Academy”, the purpose of which is to help people approach death responsibly and better appreciate life.

During the seminar, participants write an inscription on their tombstone, write the last letter to their loved ones and stay in a closed coffin.
