The Norwegian cliff is about 10 thousand years old. The Prekestulen observation deck with a height of more than 600 meters offers stunning views of the picturesque fjord, and this majestic place is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful in the world.

If you go further and climb a little higher, you will get to the Kjerag plateau. It is famous for the huge cobblestone Kjeragbolten, stuck between the rocks, which, as tourists write, you can climb without special equipment. But be extremely careful: the giant stone is almost a kilometer above the ground. It’s not worth risking your life for a beautiful photo.

How to get. The Prekestulen Camp site can be reached from the nearest major city Stavanger. It is also easy to get there: there is an airport, a railway station, a port and a bus service.

By ferry, which runs regularly, you can swim from Stavagner to the place of transfer to the bus in about an hour. And already by land transport to get to the start of the route. Or rent a car right away and go to the cliff from the city on your own.

When to arrive. It is best in the summer months. In winter, the ascent can be dangerous for unprepared tourists.

In general, the route is within the power of a healthy person. But be prepared for steep long ascents. And if you are not sure that you can handle it, consult your doctor in advance.

Be sure to prepare comfortable shoes suitable for hiking, and stock up on warm clothes. The travel time to the Prekestulen observation deck depends on physical fitness.
