Everyone has long known that our planet's oceans and seas are polluted to the limit, litter islands float in them and oil often enter them, which has a negative impact on their flora and fauna. Commercial fishing also significantly worsens the situation. Some people compare everything that happens to the state of public baths: everyone uses them, but no one is going to clean them and clean them. The comparison may not be very good, but it accurately captures the essence of things.
Even though many countries have introduced strict fishing laws, shortened fishing seasons, and criminal cases against persistent violators, they still stick to it the principle of “take whatever you want and do with it what you want”. Because of this attitude towards fish resources, many fish gathering places are no longer considered such.
Scientists have long come to the conclusion that if no one owns a resource, be it water, forests, game, or even air, then everyone wants to use it, either out of greed or to survive. And since the population is constantly increasing, the area occupied by it is expanding accordingly and resources are being depleted more quickly. In some parts of the world, fishing grounds have already been devastated, and others will face the same fate.
What can be done to save oceans and seas with their flora and fauna? Sell them! Even if at first glance it seems ridiculous to give part of the ocean for use to fishermen and fishing farms, which, having depleted the reserves of this part of the water space, will move to another place. In fact, the results will be different. At least Chile, which gave its maritime holdings to private companies, did well.
The new owners of maritime territories have become good owners and protectors of their property. They have collaborated with scientists and are working together to manage and control the area under their control in order to increase the fish population.
The Chilean government's policy of privatizing fishing grounds can become an example for many countries around the world, which will thus be able to save an important resource on our planet, because fish is one of the most common food products, and on the coast of underdeveloped countries it is also the main one.
