There is very little time left until New Year and Christmas, which means that it is a magical time for vacations and weekends spent with the family, decorating homes and creating.
Toys and jewelry from the store are undoubtedly beautiful, but not always affordable. In addition, such jewelry does not have the main attribute of family holidays — love.
In this article, we will tell you how to make New Year's gnomes with your own hands easily and simply, from available materials and for every taste, and most importantly, with soul, because the process can be shared with loved ones and devote a day to creativity.

To begin with, a few tips so that both the manufacturing process and the result are happy for you and your loved ones:
If you don't like or don't know how to sew, don't worry, for many samples you won't need this skill, they are universal.
Do not rush to do everything at once and do not be upset if something does not work out. Creativity doesn't have to be perfect, the main thing is to enjoy it.
If you haven't worked with fabric before, it's pretty easy to work with felt. If you make a mistake, you can fix the job without anyone noticing.
1. DIY felt gnome

The materials you'll need are:
Whatever fabric you like, the size depends on what kind of gnome you want to make. Medium gnome — 20×20 cm
Felt sheet for the hat. You can buy additional felt if you want a hat in different colors or add color accents

Faux fur for crafts
Scissors
Raw rice or dry beans
Sintepon or any similar filler
Thread and sewing needle
Wooden bead or nose pompom
Styrofoam ball for the head
Glue gun
Manufacture:

Step 1: Cut a circle out of the fabric and sew by hand with a continuous stitch along the edge.
The size of the gnome depends on the size of the circle you cut. To begin with, you can circle a large dinner plate. To sew the edge with a continuous stitch, you must first thread the thread through the eye of the needle and tie a knot at the end.
Thread the needle through the fabric from above so that it comes out from the underside, then thread it from the bottom and pull it out from the upper side. Repeat these stitches until you sew the fabric all over the edge. If you do it right, when you pull the thread, the fabric will begin to come together to form something like a pouch.
Step 2: Fill the sewn pouch with raw rice or beans and sintepon.
Rice and beans will give the gnome weight and make it more stable. Once you fill the cloth bag, tighten the thread so that it is completely closed at the top and tie a strong knot.
Step 3: Glue the styrofoam ball to the top of the bag.
Don't worry if the joint or ball looks a little sloppy — it will be covered with a beard and hat.

Step 4: Cut a triangle out of faux fur and glue it around the head.
Tip: cut off a piece of fur along with the lining to which it is attached, if any. So the fur will hold better and look more natural.
Step 5: Make a cone of any height out of felt to your taste and adjust it to the size of your head.
If you want to make a gnome in a looser style, you can use a sock instead of felt.
Step 6: Glue the felt cone to the gnome's head so that it hides where the beard is attached.
For brightness, you can cut and glue snowflakes, stars or hearts from felt in a different color.
Step 7: Glue your nose.
You can glue your nose directly to your beard as you like — lower, higher, or even slip half under the hat so that only the lower part looks out.
Your gnome is ready!
2. Christmas toy gnome

© marzipanknits
Materials:
2 sheets of felt – for the front and back of the hat, any color that fits your basic Christmas decorations.
Faux beard fur
Small nose pompoms and hat tops
Sewing machine or needle and thread matching the color of the hat
Sintepon
Glue gun
Ribbon
Manufacture:
Step 1: Cut a triangle out of paper, approximately the size of the future hat, according to your taste.
Step 2: Attach the cut triangle to each of the felt sheets and trace along the outline. Cut out the triangle designed for the back of the hat, leave the front one uncut for now – this will make it easier to sew the two pieces together. Don't worry about pen marks or marker marks — they won't be visible.
Step 3: If you want, sew a snowflake or any other pattern of your choice on the front of the hat, on the side where you can't see the marker.
Step 4: Secure the ribbon loop at the top of the hat, you can fix it with glue to be sure, but if you want the gnome to look neater, you can simply fix the ends of the ribbon in the process stitching the two parts of the hat together.
Step 5: Connect the front and back of the hat with the wrong side outward to then unscrew and hide the inner seam, and sew with a sewing machine or with a simple seam with a needle along edges, leaving the bottom of the hat unstitched.
Step 6: After you have sewn the two pieces, cut along the contour without touching the seam, trim the edges. Turn it to the front side. If you want to give the hat a little softness or volume, you can fill it with a small amount of padding polyester.
Step 7: Cut a piece of faux fur to fit the bottom of the hat. Glue to the front side and either sew or seal the lower part so that the sintepon does not fall out.
Step 8: Glue the pompom nose and pompom to the top of the hat. Done!
3. Gnomes made of cardboard toilet paper bushings

© craftsbyamanda
Materials:
Cardboard bushings for toilet paper or paper kitchen towels
Colored paper or wrapping paper of any color
Pompons
White yarn
Scissors
Glue
Manufacture:
Step 1: Cut the cardboard bushings so that they are of different lengths to make the gnomes taller or lower. Cover them with any colored or wrapping paper of your choice.
Step 2: Make a cone out of white or colored paper, glue it around the edges and cut it from below so that the lower edge is even.
Step 3: Wrap the yarn around 4 fingers 10-12 times, thread a piece of yarn into the resulting loops and tie a strong knot on top so as to tie the loops together. Cut the loops from the bottom.

Step 4: Glue the resulting beard to the upper edge of the grommet. Then glue the sleeve and the paper cone on it to make a hat.
Step 5: Glue the pompom nose at the junction of the hat and beard.
Step 6: Let the glue dry and slightly crumple or tilt the tip of the paper hat to give it an interesting shape. Done!

Step 1: Roll the body shape out of cotton wool, polyester padding or wool in one of the basic colors (blue, brown, red or white) — oblong or conical, wrap it with sewing thread to make the shape held on.
Step 2: Wrap the base over the thread on all sides with brown wool, roll with a thread until the body is firm and neat.
Step 3: Wrap the toy's body with colored stripes – leave brown wool below, wrap it with blue wool above, white hair even higher and then, even higher, red. Roll until firm.
Step 4: Add some more red wool to the top of the hat toy and roll, thinning towards the end.
Step 5: Take a small circle of flesh-colored hair for your face, secure it on a white strip and roll until firm.

Step 6: Gently twist the toy in your palms to soften it. Take a small piece of white wool and fasten it under the gnome's face in the form of a beard. Roll until it is tight and neat.
Step 7: Roll up a small piece of nose hair – you can make it round, or you can make it oblong and long. Attach the gnome to your face and roll around.
Step 8: If you like, add ears and eyes and curly or curly hair bands to make the beard look fluffier.
Step 9: If you were making a Christmas tree toy, sew a red thread loop to the top of the hat.
5. Postcard with a paper gnome
These gnomes can be made even with the smallest members of the family — they are very easy to make, the process does not take much time, materials can be found in any home, and children will definitely love it result.

© twitchetts
Materials:
White paper or cardboard for the beard and the base of the postcard, colored paper or cardboard for clothes
Scissors
Glue stick
Flesh-colored marker or pencil
Gray marker or pencil
Manufacture:
Step 1: For the hat, you need to cut a long triangle out of colored paper. Cut the lower edge with an arc inward. Cut half an oval for the body out of paper of a different color.
Step 2: On white paper, use a gray marker to draw a beard that fits the body and hat. Add stripes, straight or curly, that will look like hair. Cut out the beard.
Step 3: Cut a small oval or nose circle out of white paper and paint with a flesh-colored marker.
Step 4: Glue the body onto the card. Then glue on your beard and hat. Since the bottom of the triangle is arcuate, a small oval gap forms between the hat and the beard — this is the future face of the gnome. It must be painted over with a body marker.
Step 5: The top of the header will extend beyond the postcard — this is not a problem. Fold the tip to shape the hat.
Step 6: Glue your nose and draw the eyes. Done!
6. New Year gnomes from bushings

Step 3: Paint over the rest of the grommet with any color to make the body.
Step 4: On the part you left for your face, draw eyes with a marker and glue your nose. Your gnome is ready!
7. Gnomes on a stick for home puppet theater

© sugarspiceandglitter
Materials:
Colored paper or cardboard
Ice cream sticks
Glue
Pencils
Scissors
Manufacture:
Step 1: Take colored paper in different colors — white for your beard, gray for your boots, nude paper for your nose and whatever you like — for your body and hat.
Step 2: Cut the future gnome's beard out of white paper. From colored — a hat and a body of any shape you like — the shape may be different for each new gnome. For example, you can make one with a round body, one with an oval body. One with a sharp triangular hat, the other with a curved one. In addition, cut out a small flesh-colored circle — the future nose, and two mugs for boots.
Step 3: Glue the boots to the lower part of the body — right and left, it is better to glue them to the wrong side so that only half can be seen on the front side.
Step 4: Before you glue the hat, decorate it to your taste — you can add some sparkles, stars, snowflakes, or draw stripes or polka dots.
Step 5: Glue your beard to your upper body so that it covers about half of it.
Step 6: Glue a hat to the top of the beard.
Step 7: Glue your nose. If you want it to look neater and more voluminous, use a piece of double-sided tape instead of glue.
Step 8: Glue the gnome onto the ice cream stick. Done!
8. Dwarf finger dolls

© iheartcraftythings
Materials:
Red and green colored cardboard
White yarn
Small flesh-colored pompom
A hole punch that makes holes the diameter of a finger (if not, you can use nail scissors, but it will look less neat)
Jewelry — snowflakes, glitter, stickers (optional)
Scissors
Glue
Manufacture:

© iheartcraftythings
Step 1: Cut a rectangle and a triangle (or cone, depending on what shape you want to make the hat) from colored paper.
Step 2: Decorate the hat to your liking — you can add stickers, sparkles or snowflakes.
Step 3: Wrap the yarn around 4 fingers 12 times, thread a piece of yarn into the resulting loops and tie a strong knot on top to tie the loops together. Cut the loops from the bottom to make a thread beard.

© iheartcraftythings
Step 4: In the rectangle (this is the future body of the gnome), in its lower part, cut two holes the diameter of your fingers with scissors or a hole punch.
Step 5: Glue the finished beard to the rectangle, just above the middle, closer to the top.
Step 6: Glue the hat to the gnome's body so that it slightly covers the beginning of the beard. Your gnome is ready!
Original gnomes on the fingers, very easy to make
9. Gnomes from disposable plates

© gluedtomycraftsblog
Materials:
disposable paper plates
Scissors
Colored paper or scrapbooking paper with different ornaments
Nude or brown craft paper
Glue
Stapler
Stickers, glitter or snowflakes for decoration
Manufacture:
Step 1: The plate will serve as a beard for the gnome. Take a plate and cut it in half.
Step 2: Cut strips along the curved part of the cut halves so that half of the plate looks like a beard. Be careful – cut the strips close together, but do not cut them to the end.
Step 3: You can twist the strips with your fingers or with scissors – this will give the beard shape and volume.
Step 4: Take colored paper with any pattern, cut out a large triangle so that its lower part is approximately the same length as the diameter of the plate – this is the future gnome's hat.
Step 5: Cut an oval nose out of flesh-colored paper.
Step 6: Attach the triangle to your beard with a stapler – the clips can then be closed with stickers or sparkles.
Step 7: Glue your nose at the junction of the beard and hat.
Step 8: Decorate the gnome to taste with stickers, glitter, or snowflakes. Done!

White thick paper
Beige face paper
Scissors
Glue
Black marker

Manufacture:
Step 1: Roll up two colored paper cones — one large, one smaller for the hat. It is better to make them out of paper of different colors so that they do not get lost against each other.
Step 2: Cut a beard out of white paper – triangular, elongated or semicircular. Cut small strips from below without cutting them to the end and twist them with scissors to add volume to the beard.
Step 3: Cut out of beige paper a small oval for the face no wider than the beard.
Step 4: Before you glue your beard and face, attach all the elements to a large cone to understand what the future gnome will look like.
Step 5: Glue your beard onto a large cone. Then glue the face oval on top of the beard. Draw eyes with a marker; optionally, you can glue the nose button.
Step 6: When the rest of the parts are glued and dry, put a cone hat on top, glue it gently. Crumple or fold the tip of the cone to shape it. The gnome is ready!
