Photographer, director and sculptor Algis Kemezis has created a series of unique works. The usual picture has become unusual – colors have changed, spots have appeared, and some of them are completely different from the original version. The photos were obtained as a result of a symbiosis of chemical substances and a transpositive film.
The photographer was inspired to create an amazing “surreally” series by the disaster. A fire broke out in his parents' home and most of his previous work was destroyed by fire. Kemezis found the remaining slides of the slides under the rubble. They were all badly damaged, but what he noticed was the basis for the “surreally” series. The slides found were colored with toxic ingredients in household glue, markers, disinfectants, shoe polish, and more. After this discovery, Algis Kemezys already intentionally used chemicals to create photographs.
“Like a Breath of Fresh Air”, “Toxic Toronto”, “Blossom of Annihilation”, “Someone Is Melting the Earth” – images with these titles are presented in the online gallery works by a photographer. They seem to be hinting that materials capable of creating fascinating photographs can actually cause serious damage to the environment.
