Unbelievable facts
Men lie more often than women, making it a habit to lie an average of about 3 times a day or 1,092 times a year. At the same time, according to a new study, women lie on average twice a day, or 728 times a year.
However, scientists have found that women are more likely to lie in certain situations, such as hiding the purchase of new clothes from their partner. About 39 percent of women feel the need to lie when it comes to recent purchases, compared to 26 percent of men.
Also, half of women are more likely to cheat or pretend to be busy to avoid an unwanted phone call compared to a third of men who do the same.
The study was conducted by British experts led by Karen Pine from the University of Hertfordshire, who believes that lying is an integral part of a person who helped us survive as a species.
“Our ancestors were fighting for resources and they had to lie to outsmart their enemies,” she explained.

Also, people often lie to make things easier for themselves. Everyone lies, but you need to know when it's acceptable and when it's not, Pine said. However, the lies we tell to avoid the difficulties of life can be harmful and lead to long-term consequences and even obsessive, as one lie leads to even more lies.
While all people tend to lie, some people are naturally better at this “art”. Thus, extroverts, for example, lie more often than introverts.
The survey found that about 20 percent of people consider lying to their boss about being away from work due to illness justified, and 13 percent said that covering up infidelity would not harm relationships. Money was also a common motive for lying.
