Culture opens
McDonald's is famous all over the world for its hamburgers. Now a well-known fast-food chain is opening its first restaurant, where you won't see the usual hamburgers, nuggets and cheeseburgers.
What made McDonald's abandon traditional meat snacks? The fact is that the first vegetarian restaurant opens in India, where 42 percent of the population doesn't eat meat at all. Most people in India consider a cow to be a sacred animal, so eating beef is out of the question. The rest of the population, who belong to the Muslim minority, does not eat pork. All this offers great opportunities for vegetarian restaurants.
The first vegetarian McDonald's will open in Amritsar in northern India, home to the Golden Temple, the holiest place for people who preach the Schied religion. Meat is not allowed in the temple, so according to McDonald's, a vegetarian menu is the best way to attract hungry pilgrims.
A second restaurant will be opened at Katra, another famous pilgrimage site in India.

What does McDonald's vegetarian menu include? It is worth noting that the menu of these restaurants in India is already 50 percent vegetarian, and the McAloo Tikki burger, filled with potatoes and spices, is the most popular. Another popular dish is McSpicy Paneer, a bit of a traditional Indian cheese pie.
McDonald's is also going to develop many other vegetarian dishes.
