Sky trail over the Canyon
“To make it look even better” — this seems to be the motto of the architects of one of the most famous viewing platforms in the USA — Skywalk over the Grand Canyon. A gift of Nature — the canyon itself, formed over billions of years by the flow of the Colorado River — enterprising humanity decided to frame an expensive and, according to purists, unsuitable frame — and so a platform hovering in the air appeared above the all-consuming landscape.
This is not the only observation deck of the canyon, but the most spectacular and the most expensive: the cost of the visit is about 70 USD. A giant “balcony” with a glass floor literally hangs over the abyss, which the rays of the sun during the day brighten with millions of different, changing shades.
Tourists are particularly interested in walking along the Heavenly Path, a transparent crescent-shaped bridge hanging in the air at an altitude of 1219.2 meters. The ticket price for this attraction is 26 USD. Well, if you are ready to part with 150 USD, be sure to fly over the Grand Canyon on a small plane – so you can enjoy the colors of its slopes changing depending on the time of day and run after the flow of the great Colorado.
The Middle Needle of the Alps
To reach with your hand — Mont Blanc seems so close from the observation deck of the Aiguille du Midi, located very close (and only slightly below) the highest peak in Europe. The snow-covered peak of Mont Blanc on a clear day is located almost directly in front of you.
However, the Aiguille itself is by no means a secondary mountain in the French Alps: its pointed peak “pierces” the sky at an altitude of 3842 meters. But to reach this height is not an example easier than Mont Blanc: a cable car from the popular winter resort of Chamonix will comfortably take you to Aiguille. The silvery cabins cover the height difference of 2800 meters in just 20 minutes — and now you can “touch” the fluffy cap of Mont Blanc. So it is not necessary to hone your skiing skills in order to touch the alpine beauty of the Alps. By the way, Chamonix itself also deserves attention — it is the oldest and most famous resort of the French Alps with a venerable age of more than 200 years and a population of more than 10 thousand.
An additional pleasant moment: the geographical location of Chamonix allows you to ride here not only in France, but also in neighboring Italy at the resort of Courmayeur, as well as in the Swiss Vallorcine and Verbier.
The bridge between the Twin Towers
The observation bridge is the most accurate way to describe one of the most incredible man—made observation decks in the world, which offers dizzying views of the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The two-storey Sky Bridge Skybridge connects the 41st and 42nd floors of the famous Petronas Towers, the symbol of Kuala Lumpur. A real miracle of engineering, it resembles a rope connecting these 452-meter twin towers with an inseparable “umbilical cord”. At night, the spectacle is even more unique: the whole complex sparkles with lights, like a giant Christmas tree. Well, during the day, there are always a lot of tourists on the observation deck, located at an altitude of 170 meters — more than three hundred a day.
In addition, Petronas has a lot of interesting things: the Towers art gallery presents both classical and modern art, tells about traditional Malaysian costumes and crafts. You can get acquainted with the works of both local and international artists. The Petronas Towers Concert Hall, called Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, is the permanent stage venue of the Symphony Orchestra of Malaysia.
